Looking for Glamping in Wales? Try Something Wilder

When most people search for glamping in Wales, they picture shepherd hut’s overlooking Snowdonia, lines of pods with hot tubs, and maybe a few friendly goats nearby. And while there’s a lot to love there –  what if you’re after something a little quieter, a little more off-grid, and a little more you?

Let me tell you about Llanthony.

Tucked away in the Black Mountains, just a short way from Hereford and Newport, South Wales you’ll find Llanthony Castaway.  It’s a hidden gem for those looking for glamping with soul.

A Wilder Kind of Glamping Experience

Here at Castaway, things are simple, sacred, and just wild enough.

You won’t find wi-fi or traffic or neon signs. But you will find:

  • A converted Railway Carriage, warmed by a wood burner
  • An off-grid Dome, perfect for stargazing and slow mornings
  • A snug & cosy Hut, with a slow soaking hot tub
  • Birds, bats, sheep, and the sound of the wind through the trees
  • Miles of trails, tumbling streams, and wild skies overhead
  • A working farm – I can often be found herding sheep with my dogs!

It’s glamping for people who want to unplug, breathe deeply, and come back to themselves.

Why Glamping Now?

Even in the colder months, there’s something magical about escaping into the hills.

Winter glamping means:

  • Frosty mornings and misty hills
  • Long walks and longer lie-ins
  • Hot chocolate by the firepit
  • Watching the stars appear one by one

Bring your thick socks and a sense of adventure, and we’ll provide the rest.

Why Llanthony?

We’re in the Brecon Beacons which is (even if I am slightly biased) simply one of the most stunning places in the UK (and beyond!).

Llanthony offers something just as beautiful, and far less busy that other glamping sites. It’s wild and wide open, rich in nature and ancient energy. You’ll find medieval ruins, dark skies, and a pace of life that asks you to slow down.

If you’re looking for glamping but want to skip the crowds and try something different – this might be exactly what you didn’t know you needed.

Bring the Dog, Add the S’mores

Our glamping stays are:

  • Dog-friendly (Dome & Hut)
  • Firepit-ready
  • With extras available like s’mores, burgers and sausages from local suppliers, wood-fired pizza kits (Railway Carriage only)

Oh, and we now offer Tropic Skincare borrow baskets for a bit of pampering, even in the wild.

Ready for Your Next Glamping Adventure?

So if your search for glamping in Wales has led you here – maybe that’s a sign. Castaway might not have been on your radar, but it definitely should be!
