Arriving at Castaway
- Access to Llanthony Castaway is a 15-minute journey from the main road winding peacefully up the Llanthony Valley. There are passing spaces not far from areas where two cars are unable to pass each other. Some reversing into passing spaces is likely, especially at peak times such as summer. The last 2 minutes is through one of the farm fields which may have sheep and lambs in.
- There is no mobile signal shortly after leaving main road
- If you are travelling from Hay on Wye it is a narrow single track road for 30 mins over Hay Bluff Mountain – very picturesque but will take a bit of effort, especially if not comfortable with narrow lanes.
- Once you leave the valley road you will travel through a field on an access track to a private carpark. The track is hard – made from packed down stone. Grass grows either side and in the middle. It is suitable for all cars other than very low sports cars.
Parking at Castaway
- Should you not wish to take your car all the way to Castaway carpark you may leave your car inside the field just inside the double gates. Alternatively, you can leave your vehicle at the Farmhouse. Please note vehicles are left at owner’s risk.
- There are two carparks, one for Railway Carriage one for the Dome, called the Cove.
- The Railway Carriage is at the top left of the big field, for the Dome you turn left soon after entering big field and continue straight ahead
- The carparks are exclusively for Castaway guests. You need to open a gate from road to field and from field to carpark – please be aware animals often like to lie in the gateway so they might need to be gently shooed away and may have left some unwanted gifts (sheep poo!) behind so take care where you tread
