Starry Skies at Castaway

Slow down. Look up. Ten thousand stars await you

Tucked away in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, we’re lucky to sit within one of only a handful of International Dark Sky Reserves in the world. That means minimal light pollution, protected skies, and some of the best stargazing in the UK – right from your bed or beside your firepit.

On a clear night, you might spot:

  • The Milky Way stretching overhead
  • Constellations like Orion, Cassiopeia, and Ursa Major
  • Planets glowing low on the horizon
  • Shooting stars – especially during seasonal meteor showers

Stargazing - Glamping Cabin Brecon Beacons Monmouthshire

No equipment needed. Just a sense of wonder.

Whether you’re lying back in the Dome with the sky framed through the panoramic window, or wrapped in a blanket on the swing chair at the Carriage, the stars are an invitation to pause, breathe, and feel part of something vast and ancient.

Top tips for the best experience:

  • Let your eyes adjust to the dark for 20 minutes
  • Use a stargazing app to find constellations
  • Best on cloudless nights with no full moon
